After a marathon journey by road from Moshi in Tanzania to Nairobi, capital of Kenya, this message is being penned from the relative luxury of the Boulevard Hotel in Nairobi. Our day started at 05:00 to accompany our clients to the airport to fly back to South Africa. Most of the morning was spent on trying to update the photographs and to pack for an entirely different mountain.

We commence part two of High on Africa tomorrow morning at 09:00 Kenyan time. Our intended route will start off at Chogoria Park gate with, once again, a walk through the rainforest. Dawie and I are temporarily luxuriating watching the junior Springboks thrash the junior All blacks at rugby, oblivious of any possible hardship lying ahead during the next 8 days.

Our ice axes, mountain gear and backpacks seem anxious to get going and we will shortly be retiring for bed in a new country.

Our next transmission will be from Mt. Kenya at around 3000m at Mt. Mery Bandas, first day on Mt. Kenya
